IVANAHELSINKI

I have had the opportunity to work together with Paola Ivana Suhonen who is the designer for the company IvanaHelsinki (www.ivanahelsinki.com). As the first Nordic fashion company Ivanahelsinki was invited to the Paris fashion week last year and was now invited to New York fashion week! But as you probably have heard Ivana Trump has filed suit against Paola Suhonen and her company Ivanahelsinki for trademark infringement, unfair competition, and violations of privacy and publicity rights...  Despite this Ivanahelsinki showed anyway her collection for spring 2011 "Where the f**k is my sailor?". 

So today's blog is devoted to Ivanahelsinki. I have picked out some cards from the season when I was working with Paola Suhonen.

ISTANBUL

The city with so much inspiration - colours of the spices, all the beautiful mosques, the Grand Bazaar with all the colourful tiles and plates, the delicious food and the long history. One of the most fantastic fish restaurants I have ever been to was at the north of Istanbul, Kirecburnu, and was called Met. We had Asia as a view on the other side of Bosphorus. Two other restaurants that I can recommend was the Leb-i Derya at Kumbaraci Yokusu for the view and the Anatolian restaurant Buhara restaurants&Ocakbasi for the good kebabs and starters.

Who would have guessed that A'dam has the coolest ecological restaurant ever? I can gladly recommend this place:

We ate a menu and I have picked out the most wonderful dishes in looks and taste. But not only the nice restaurant was inspiring in A'dam also the buildings and the atmosphere were fantastic!

FUNNY FORMS

Since the last topic was about humour I like to share my MA degree project from Textilhögskolan in Borås, Sweden. The purpose of the project was to discuss the paradox within designing sustainable fashion. Fashion is suppose to be something new. The conclusion was to create shapes in sustainable qualities and use humour as a method to design forms that make a long lasting connection between wearer and garment. These pictures are taken out from the collection "Don't panic it's organic" spring 2008.
